Reunion Pics

I would like to say my absence has been because I "unplugged" and took a break from everything so I could fully enjoy the summer time. However, it's not as exciting as all that. I just haven't been in the mood to post!

I won't attempt to catch up from every event I missed, but I will hit some of the highlights! These are some of the pictures I took at the Fortenberry family reunion over Memorial Day weekend at Danny and Dee's house. This isn't a good representation of everyone there---I didn't even get shots of my own kiddos. Oops! But what I did do is have a GREAT time seeing everyone again. Danny and Dee were gracious hosts and provided a perfect place for us to gather. What a great time together with family!

Watching two of my favorite men work under Mema's sink.
More proud momma moments. This has been the week for awards assemblies and end-of-year activities. Lance performed in his last band concert for 7th grade the other night. It was also their awards night. Only 3 awards were given for 7th grade and Lance got one of them! Mr. Ellis praised him for having the best attitude out of all the students he's taught---he said Lance was willing to do anything he was asked (wish it was that way at home. Ha!) , was funny and an all-round great kid! We are VERY proud of him! Go Lance!

And.... she's LEGAL! We trekked up to the DPS office on Thursday for Hadley to take the written test for her learner's permit. She is excited, but nervous. I'm sure she'll be a great driver. Watch out world, here she comes!

Crazy kid... This was his outfit for the school dance the other night. It had a beach theme, but I'm not sure this is what they had in mind. Ha!

Today, we went to the awards assembly honoring the Superintendent's Scholars at Hadley's school. It's a terrific honor--we are very proud of her!
Afterward, the kids got an extended lunchtime. Hadley joined friends for lunch, prepared by one of the moms at a home near the school.
Because she earned this award for both semesters, she gets to eat lunch at the Big Texan on Thursday.

Dog Bite

Today was a beautiful afternoon so Hadley and Lance decided to ride their bikes to Sonic for happy hour. As they were racing home down the alley, a dog ran out of his open gate and attacked Lance. (He was able to save the drink!) The bite is pretty bad--several puncture wounds, tears and quite a bit of bruising. The owners say the dog has been vaccinated and are looking for proof. They've offered to pay the bills and are trying to be really nice.

Lance is really upset--it was very traumatizing for him. He was afraid and it really hurt. :( Right now, we're just waiting for the proof of vaccination. I don't think we'll take him to urgent care because I don't think they'll do anything differently than we've already done. We've doctored it as best we could and will call our pediatrician tomorrow, in case he needs antibiotics.

Poor kid. He just can't seem to catch a break.

Check that one off the list

Yay! My latest job/project is finally finished and live! Check out the Woodlands website. The overall design is mine, with a few changes/additions from my boss. I took most of the pictures on the webpages, all of the condo gallery and some of the fun galleries. My boss did all the programming and backend stuff~I'm not that good ;). I'm pretty happy about the way it turned out and am glad it is finally finished!

It's a Record!

Whoop! Lance is up to 82.2 pounds!!

The Grandmas

Sharing a picture of my two grandmothers. So funny to have them in the same building! Grandma seems to be a bit better. She's a bit stronger, but still having some pain. She's started therapy, which we hope will strengthen her and get her back to her old self. Saturday, David and Tyler mowed the grass at Bluebonnet, so I took this of them when they came in to say hello. Pardon the dirty shirts. ;)

Mema was less than thrilled to have her picture taken----she was worried that her hair looked bad. I told her it was just fine and snapped anyway! She was having a pretty good day.

"Our" woodpecker

I'd heard a woodpecker in the neighbor's yard, but never could find him. Today, I stepped out into the backyard and there he was on our tree, pecking away. It was so windy that he didn't hear me come out---I was able to grab my camera and capture him. Good lookin' fellow, isn't he?

Spring is finally here!

So glad to see things blooming again. I missed green and flowers and warm, breezy days!

He lives...

Hadley and I went to Lubbock today to watch the Varsity soccer team play a playoff game---they won 2-0! Go Sandies! I also used the opportunity to check up on Tyler. He's still not feeling great, but he is better. The clinic has him coming in every other day for a follow-up, which I think is great! He even gets to see the real doctor, not a student or nurse. They said he's looking better, but they are still not thrilled with his lung function. Hopefully that will improve by next week. He's still under strict orders to rest and I think he plans to do just that all weekend long.

We took him to lunch/dinner?at 4:00 and I made them pose for this picture outside his dorm--in the brown Lubbock wind. It was a nasty, windy, dirty day. In spite of it all, they actually look like they like each other... :)

Took this kiddo for a follow-up visit today. His lung function was improved and he had gained a whole pound. This was a multi-task visit. I texted back and forth with Tyler while he was in the clinic at tech. Turns out his news wasn't as good. Doc said he has post flu pneumonia. He left with strict orders for rest, two inhalers and an antibiotic. It's hard to be far apart when they're sick. :(

Took this pic wondering how many more times we will get to see this sweet sight. All three kids with us on a family trip.

Sharing one from yesterday

This shot was from pretty far away, so I had to crop in a bunch, but I liked her excellent form, so there ya go!

They played a terrific game yesterday, winning 4-0. Hadley was really strong in her position. Way to go, H! She had one chest trap that she then headed. It made the crowd ooooh and aaaahh! Then she had another header where she jumped up and over another girl to get the header. It was very cool...

Only one more game left for the JV girls. :(

No more baby teeth!

Wedding!

The happy couple!

Nathan and Brittany's wedding was just beautiful! Her colors were shades of brown and champagne---very elegant. I didn't take my good camera, so I used my cell phone and Tyler's camera to capture a few memories. When Tyler saw the two cakes, he said that Nathan definitely won in that contest. I tend to agree since I love chocolate cake and chocolate covered strawberries!

Hadley and Jamie looking lovely! Jamie was a bridesmaid.

Hadley and Grandma Nita.

Dick---ever popular with his phone even after he retired!, the groom Nathan, David, Gary, Trissa and Tyler.

Lance and the closest thing he's got to a boy cousin his age---Kyle. Kyle is Jamie and Nathan's half-brother. They are just a few months apart in age and both love Xbox. I'm sure you can imagine that conversation. :) Kyle was a groomsman.

Time to throw the bouquet! Hadley didn't want to go, but Jamie wasn't having any of that. She grabbed her hand and pulled her along for the fun. Hadley did NOT make an effort to catch it. Neither did Jamie. Ha!

They had a sparkler send-off.

And got to "get away" in this very cool Rolls Royce. Word has it that it belongs to that famous someone in my earlier post, although nobody I spoke with was certain. They are honeymooning in Jamaica this week. What a great start to the rest of their lives!

Our brush with fame at nathan and brittanys wedding!

Flip Flops!

I wore flip flops today for the first time in ages... I am thrilled! It's been a balmy 60-ish degrees with blue skies and a light breeze. Now that's what I'm talking about!

The wearing of the flip flops revealed two truths to me. One--Spring is coming afterall. (there has been some doubt with all the crazy snow we've had!) Two--I'm in dire need of a pedicure. Yay for pedicures! :) Happy Wednesday!
