Welcome!

I love sharing my life with you on this little blog. Thank you for stopping by! I re-size all my pictures for the web, making them unsuitable for print. If you come across a picture that you would like a copy for printing, please just let me know. I'll be glad to send one your way!

Wedding!

The happy couple!

Nathan and Brittany's wedding was just beautiful! Her colors were shades of brown and champagne---very elegant. I didn't take my good camera, so I used my cell phone and Tyler's camera to capture a few memories. When Tyler saw the two cakes, he said that Nathan definitely won in that contest. I tend to agree since I love chocolate cake and chocolate covered strawberries!

Hadley and Jamie looking lovely! Jamie was a bridesmaid.

Hadley and Grandma Nita.

Dick---ever popular with his phone even after he retired!, the groom Nathan, David, Gary, Trissa and Tyler.

Lance and the closest thing he's got to a boy cousin his age---Kyle. Kyle is Jamie and Nathan's half-brother. They are just a few months apart in age and both love Xbox. I'm sure you can imagine that conversation. :) Kyle was a groomsman.

Time to throw the bouquet! Hadley didn't want to go, but Jamie wasn't having any of that. She grabbed her hand and pulled her along for the fun. Hadley did NOT make an effort to catch it. Neither did Jamie. Ha!

They had a sparkler send-off.

And got to "get away" in this very cool Rolls Royce. Word has it that it belongs to that famous someone in my earlier post, although nobody I spoke with was certain. They are honeymooning in Jamaica this week. What a great start to the rest of their lives!

Our brush with fame at nathan and brittanys wedding!

Flip Flops!

I wore flip flops today for the first time in ages... I am thrilled! It's been a balmy 60-ish degrees with blue skies and a light breeze. Now that's what I'm talking about!

The wearing of the flip flops revealed two truths to me. One--Spring is coming afterall. (there has been some doubt with all the crazy snow we've had!) Two--I'm in dire need of a pedicure. Yay for pedicures! :) Happy Wednesday!

Maiden Voyage

Yesterday, we experienced the maiden voyage of David's new cooker---"Almost Famous Dave's"!! We cooked for the JV soccer team after their home game. The weather cooperated---one nice day out of many not-so-nice days--so we were thankful! We were even lucky enough to have some visitors from the west (and south, but that's another story! ha!) to join us. Yay for Nana and Papa!
David just finished building this grill and is really proud. He and another friend created it from scratch--an oil field pipe and an old boat trailer. No real plans--just a lot of research and some good luck. It turned out great! We have some kinks to work out, but I think we're going to have a lot of fun with it in the very near future. I've decided we need to add some music and a decorative flag and logo painted on the back. Then, we'll be ready to PAR-TAY! Way to go Dave!♥

Hanging with family on Friday night. What a great way to spend it!

Too pretty not to share!

Spotted two beautiful blue jays in the back yard this morning. I grabbed my camera and shot them through the back door. Blue jays are one of my favorite birds. Aren't they gorgeous??

Soccer and Such

It was a gorgeous day in Midland yesterday! 70 degrees, sunny and a light breeze. Fabulous! When I left yesterday morning, it was below freezing and heavily overcast. When I came home last night, it was foggy and drizzly. We were very lucky the game wasn't at home!!
Hadley played great yesterday! She's been a little disappointed with her performance lately, but not yesterday. She was rockin' it! :) We won the game----1 to 0.
I also stayed to shoot the JV boys game because I needed pictures for the end-of-season video. I missed the focus a bit on this one, but really liked the action so I thought I'd share it. The boy in the air is Hayden. He used to come get Hadley to go to the school and play soccer. They don't do that much any more, but I always thought it was sweet and kinda funny when he would come get her. It was Hadley and a bunch of boys. Ha!
That's it for soccer--now for the such! Lance is feeling much better. His cough is finally under control and he should go to school tomorrow. It was a rough week. I'm glad they aren't all that way! And, if you view my actual blog page rather than a reader, I apologize... I messed with the HTML in the template and can't get it right. Unfortunately, I was overconfident that I could get it right and did NOT backup the one that worked. Ugh. Maybe one of these days I"ll get it figured out!

Things have come a long way from the old yellow dog busses in my day. Hadley played an awesome game today in Midland. I'll post action pics later.

Poor kid has missed school all week. He has a great big stack of makeup work. No rest for the weary!

ETA: Yay! It worked! I've been trying to figure out how to post pics from my new phone. Yippee!

Snow. Snow. Snow.

We got another 5 inches on Wednesday... And, we're expecting another 3-5 on Sunday.... ay yi yi. It was beautiful, though.

And the braces are OFF

Celebrate!! The braces are OFF and Hadley is SO happy!! Her teeth look great and she feels great about them. Woot for orthodontics!!

Sandie Revue

We got a nice break Saturday when we went to the first performance of Sandie Revue. Most of the show is put on by the New Sound singers and some of the older choirs. The freshmen boys and girls groups each did one song. The whole thing lasted two hours! Hadley's group sang "Popular" from the broadway show Wicked. They did a great job. It was cute--and especially well done considering they did not have a trial run, or even perform it on the stage at all before Saturday. We had great seats---right by Hadley.

I took a few other pictures to share---they have some crazy talent at that school! There were quite a few solos and duets. The kids played instruments, did skits, ballet danced-just a big variety of acts.

Snow Day, Part Deux

Shoveling the front walk... David posed for me on both of these---he wanted to make that clear. Right. The news last night said that our area of town got about 11 inches.

Lance met friends at the school to play. They built tunnels, threw snowballs and just had fun. Afterward, they headed to a friend's house for hot chocolate. When it was time to come home, David picked him up and he sledded all the way home, in sock feet no less. Cool!

The soccer game is OFF. Yipppee! Out of all the games to cancel, that was the best possible one. They are the farthest team in the district. The next time we play them, it will be here. :) Sandie Revue is ON---they added a performance at 2:00 and kept the originally scheduled one at 7:30. I'll share pics from it later. Enjoy your Saturday!

SNOW DAY! X2!

Alli and Courtney watching the fun.

We bought new sleds on Wednesday in preparation for this storm. This one was Lance's favorite, I think!

It's amazing to think that this is a parking lot...

Running for mommy. Ha! Not really---he just needed to go to the bathroom! :)

Yes, it was COLD out there!

Left to right: Hadley, Lance, Courtney

Alli (in the white coat) got the best of Hadley---in the middle. Ha!

Sometimes it's hard to beat a good snow day! School was canceled yesterday AND today! A big storm blew through and dumped 8-10" in our neighborhood. (That's my estimate, not Doppler Dave's.) Even David got to stay home. (His work NEVER cancels, so we were very excited about that!)

I think all major roads leading in/out of the big A were closed. Stores, businesses, just about everything shut down. Fortunately, our weathermen predicted this storm so I got all stocked up and prepared on Wednesday. We enjoyed a nice fire, hot chocolate, movies, sledding and dinner in the crock pot. It was a great day! I'm looking forward to another one just like it today..

One of Hadley's friends from school is staying with us while her dad is out of town. Courtney and Hadley had all the same activities this weekend, which was jam-packed. They were supposed to put on Sandie Revue---a choir performance and fundraiser. They should have had rehearsal last night, performances all day today, including tonight and the last performance tomorrow night. There's a pretty good chance we will still have the Saturday evening performance. In addition, Hadley and Courtney were/are scheduled to play a soccer game 300 miles away tomorrow at noon. We're still waiting to hear the verdict on that one. The plan was to hop in the car immediately following the game and dash back for the evening performance tomorrow night. I hope we won't have to do that! Our activity-filled days became a long weekend of leisure... Love it!

Alli came over too and ended up spending the night. They made cookies and watched movies and giggled. A lot. Fun times!

**ETA: Tyler had two snow days in Lubbock, too. He texted me and said that college snow days ROCKED! ;)

Just so it's not all about the girl...

Lance decided to make another fleece tie blanket. His old one was small and holey, so I wholeheartedly agreed. While he was making it, Max insisted on being in the big middle as usual.

Tyler also came home this weekend. This is his--read my--project for the night. Typical. :)

My Super Superintendent Scholar!

We had the pleasure of attending a nice award ceremony this morning for Hadley. She was a Superintendent Scholar for fall. It's quite an honor! You must carry a 95 or above average in all regular classes and at least a 90 in all honors classes. Go Hadley!

You can tell by the picture that she was so over me taking it--I had a camera issue and her friends were waiting afterall! All of the scholars got an extended lunch period, too. What a nice way to spend a Friday!

Oh my... It's been a while since I posted!

Let's see if I can catch you up. High school soccer is in full swing. We've had three games so far--tied one, and won the other two. Thought you'd like a glimpse of some of the shots I've gotten. Luckily, the weather has been pretty good. Yesterday's game was a little blustery, but had calmed quite a bit by game time. I'm afraid we won't always be so lucky! Somehow I have a TON of volunteer duties for the JV team. Still not quite sure how that happened... so far I am enjoying it at least...

Lance is doing pretty well---still skinny! It just shouldn't be this hard to get a 13-year-old boy to eat and gain weight... it just isn't right!

Tyler is also back at school. He's got a renewed determination to "do better" so let's all hope that sticks around... Last semester wasn't the world's greatest! I am very excited that he seems to have found a church that he likes. He visited Sunset C of C last week and was happy to find lots of Camp Blue Haven friends. He was planning to go there tonight as well. Yippee!

David's got a new schedule. It officially begins Friday. He will work 9/80's. That will mean he'll get his 80 hours in nine days instead of ten. Every other Friday, he will be off! We're kind of excited to see how that pans out----he will have to leave a bit earlier and stay a bit later each day, but not too bad we hope! Especially if he can look forward to that Friday off every now and then...

I'm still working on a couple of little projects, along with my new volunteer duties. All is well!
