Welcome!

I love sharing my life with you on this little blog. Thank you for stopping by! I re-size all my pictures for the web, making them unsuitable for print. If you come across a picture that you would like a copy for printing, please just let me know. I'll be glad to send one your way!

This and that

We decided it would be good for the kids to cook a meal, including planning, shopping and preparing. We asked them to choose something different from anything they'd done before. Not pancakes, macaroni and cheese from a box or steak. We already know how to do those... They were kind of excited about it! Lance chose Sour Cream Chicken Breasts. He was quite the chef--really on top of everything. He chose baked potatoes, green beans and bread to go with it. (Ok. He didn't choose the bread. I did! LOL He still hates bread. Don't know what's wrong with that kid!) He took it all in stride and handled the preparations so well. The food was delicious and we ALL enjoyed our dinner. Yay Lance!

Hadley chose a slightly simpler meal of homemade fettuccine alfredo with bread. I helped her less than I did Lance and she did a wonderful job. It was delicious. The kind where there's lots of moaning going on at the table... Yum! Tyler hasn't chosen his meal yet. Maybe next week?

This weekend was Disciple Now---a time for middle schoolers to concentrate on spiritual matters. This is the group of boys that stayed at our house on Friday and Saturday nights. The two bigger boys are HS'ers that came along to "help out". It was a great bunch. The boy in the sooner sweatshirt is a 7th grader. Lance and the boys on either side of him are 6th graders.

We had lots of snacks for the evenings and made breakfast for them both mornings. David whipped up some yummy chocolate chip, blueberry and plain pancakes yesterday. Last night, he made a bunch of breakfast burritos for today. What a sweetheart! The kids had a great time while they were here, enjoying the pool/pingpong table and video games the most. And, miracle of miracles. We made it to church on time today. All 9 of us! :) Hadley stayed with a group of girls at another house, so I was the only girl here. Thank goodness. I can't imagine trying to get 9 girls ready with only two bathrooms!!

Tyler continues to be on a Tech high... He even went out Friday night with a bunch of boys from school that are going there. We also now have a dorm room reserved... Can you believe it?? We have to put a deposit on it within the next 10 days to hold it permanently. The room is right next to two boys he knows well and really likes, and that I like too. That room already had someone in it, so he's already got his roommate as well!! Reserving a room required that we choose a meal plan, although we can change our minds later about which level. So many decisions. I think my brain might explode. And my heart. Wow!

Just an FYI, Anita finally got to see a neurologist last week. He told her she could not wait any longer for surgery. He said it was a huge tumor for the area it was in and any hemmorhage could mean blindness. He said if it were possible, he would have done the surgery that day. He also told her it probably not malignant, clarifying what she was told or heard before. As it stands, she will have a few further tests this week, then surgery next Monday, March 2nd. He's even rearranging his schedule to get it done that quickly. I'm so glad she finally got in to see him. He seems ready to get her taken care of--no delays!

Well, that about does it for now. Lots to do to prepare for the coming week!
